The Initiative
“Crafting Your AI Journey: From Zero to One” is the 2nd series of “AI Literacy for U” that invites HKU staff and students students to explore the exciting world of AI through a mix of hands-on experiences and live demonstrations. This series offers a guided “tasting” experience, allowing participants to interact with AI technologies across multiple domains—including chatbot creation, AI-powered analytics, game development, generative art, and AI model deployment.
Objectives of the Series
Whether you are new to AI or have some programming experience, these sessions provide an opportunity to:
- Experiment with AI firsthand—from training AI models with no-code tools to integrating AI into chatbots.
- Gain insights through expert-led demonstrations, showcasing how AI powers creative design, data analytics, and more.
- Explore emerging AI technologies, including Agentic AI, multi-modal models, and machine learning fundamentals.
- Discover real-world applications of AI across different industries and creative fields.
Led by experienced speakers and librarians, this series blends interactive exercises with informative demonstrations, providing a structured opportunity to experience AI in action without the pressure of deep technical training.
Eligibility: Open exclusively to current HKU students and staff, this series is your chance to explore AI’s transformative potential and take your first steps toward integrating AI into your own field of interest.

The “AI Literacy for U: From Smart Learners to Empowered Leaders” initiative seeks to demystify artificial intelligence and transform participants into leaders in the rapidly evolving AI landscape. In ‘AI Literacy for U’, the ‘U’ represents everyone—each of you interested in AI discussions. Spanning from November 2024 to April 2025, this groundbreaking series invites students, faculty, and professionals to embark on an enlightening AI journey. Through engaging lectures, interactive webinars, and hands-on workshops, you will explore the transformative power of AI and foster a leader-alike mindset in engaging with AI. The series aims to provide essential knowledge and skills, deepening understanding of AI technologies, their applications, and ethical considerations.
